What steamback collects
steamback has no accounts and no login. We do not store your Steam profile. This page explains the public requests the site makes and the analytics tag on every page.
- Google Analytics
Google Analytics runs on every page so we can see how many people visit, which pages they open, and roughly from where. Google may set cookies and receive your IP address and browser data. We use this to understand traffic, not to sell profiles or ads against your Steam name.
- Lookups you paste
When you search a Steam link, our server asks Steam Community and the Internet Archive for that public page. Those companies get the profile URL you entered. Same lobby sends a FACEIT nickname to FACEIT. We do not keep a personal account or a search history database.
- What we do not collect
No passwords, no Steam login, no inventory trading, no mailing list. Private Steam profiles stay closed. Missing archive years stay missing.
- Third parties
Valve / Steam, the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine), FACEIT, and Google Analytics operate their own services and policies. Same lobby sends the nickname you type to FACEIT and does not store a player account. steamback is an independent fan project, not affiliated with Valve or FACEIT.
You can block Google Analytics with a browser privacy extension, or use Google's ad personalization settings. Opening a pasted profile still has to talk to Steam and Wayback or the archive cannot load. Questions: use the site as a fan tool; there is no user database to export.
